Introduction 

Doctoral students at the University at Buffalo are offered:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): A research doctorate.


Encompassing both sides of the educational spectrum, the Ph.D. program shares selected foundation and methods courses, yet the programs clearly differ in their purposes, curricula, and outcomes.  The Ph.D. focuses heavily on research. Thus, nurses with a Ph.D. are likely to find employment is academia.
